ST TRINIAN'S

ST TRINIAN'S

from £490.00

St Trinian’s is from Rachael Clegg’s Milestones series in which every single image illustrates an event from the history of the Isle of Man TT Races.

The story:

Tucked away at Greeba, barely 30 metres from the TT course, stands the ruined 14th-century church of St Trinian’s. The church has been without a roof since the 17th-century, after it was blown off at least twice. Some blame mischievous fairies for the vandalism while the others believe it is the ‘Buggane’ of Greeba. The church was built on the haunting ground of the ‘Buggane’ - a huge ogre - who despised the ringing of the church bells and so set about destroying it. Whichever legend, the result was the same: a church with no roof. Thus St Trinian’s is known in Manx as Keeill Brisht or Keeill Vrisht: the ‘Broken Church’.
