LAUDA LINKS

LAUDA LINKS

from £490.00

Lauda Links is part of an exclusive series of images shot on the Nürburgring racing circuit, with each picture telling a specific story from the ‘Ring’s controversial and exciting history.

The story:

In 1976 the fastest man around the Nordschleife was Nicki Lauda, who had completed a 14.2 mile lap in a record 6.58.6 minutes. But in spite of his prowess, Lauda had urged other drivers to boycott the tenth 1976 GP at the Nurburgring on grounds of safety.

His colleagues voted against a boycott and so the race went ahead. But due to rear suspension failure Lauda crashed at Bergwerk and his Ferrari 312T2 burst into flames. Lauda was trapped in the car and suffered from severe burns and damage to his lungs. Sadly, this was the last ever Formula One race to be held on the Nordschleife.
