Flugplatz is part of Rachael Clegg’s Nürburgring series, in which every image illustrates a story about Europe’s most treacherous, twisting, challenging racing circuit. All images are designed and modelled by Rachael and shot - on location - by Ian Parry at the epic Nordschleife circuit. Each image ‘recreates’ a specific event in the Nürburgring’s history at the exact spot that event happened.

The story: 

In June 1937 Ringmeister Bernd Rosemeyer was summonsed by Professor Porsche for testing at the ‘Ring. Rosemeyer had just gained his flying licence and saw this as a perfect opportunity to fly his borrowed Jungman bi-plane to the circuit. Just as he approached the ‘Ring he made an emergency landing near  Quiddelabacher Höhe, which meant the plane had to be towed - rather fittingly - down the Flugplatz (German for ‘flying place’) to the start and finish. The three-time Nurburgring winner claimed that the plane had ‘lost a cylinder’.

Images are printed on matt Photo Rag 308 gram/m² paper. Each print is carefully hand-rolled in craft paper and shipped in a rigid postal tube. Prices include worldwide shipping. Prints are available in three sizes:
