The story: At the end of his second year riding for Sean Muir’s Hydrex Honda team, Guy Martin accidentally ended up contracted to two teams at once. While already signed for a two-year deal with Hydrex Honda, he was approached by another team, creating a contractual conflict that had to be resolved before the next season. The situation was cleared up amicably, and Martin continued with Hydrex Honda before eventually moving on to Wilson Craig’s team. The episode came against the backdrop of Martin’s breakout 2008 TT season. Riding for Hydrex Honda, he finished second in the Senior TT behind John McGuinness and secured podiums in both Supersport races. His performances that year marked him as a serious contender and established his reputation as one of the fastest and most fearless newcomers on the Mountain Course, explaining why multiple teams were eager to secure his services.
