The story:

Tyres at the Isle of Man TT are crucial, with bikes tackling 37.73 miles of public roads, drain covers and surface changes over six laps with mid-race rear tyre changes at pit stops. Metzeler is now the official TT tyre partner until 2027, supplying road-racing compounds. In 2022 the stakes were made clear when Dunlop pulled its KR108 slicks less than 48 hours before practice after high‐speed failures at the North West 200, replacing them with treaded D213 GP PROs, underlining just how fine the margin for error is at full pace on the Mountain Course. So critical are tyres that during the Jubilee race in 1977, Joey Dunlop stopped his machine at Parliament Square, jumped off, and checked his tyres and rode on to win the race. This shot was taken several years ago at that location but I was never happy with the lighting, so we reshot in in the studio.
